Q: Are there any medications that could interfere with Hypnotherapy?
A: Adults who take prescribed amphetamine (“ADHD”) medications need to wait until after their session to take such meds. You can check with your physician to be sure it’s safe but generally there are no problems if you curtail taking your medication for a few hours. Amphetamines work entirely different on adults than they do on children. Children do NOT need to change their ADHD medication regiment prior to hypnotherapy.
Benzodiazepines (tranquilizers) can also interfere with the hypnotherapy process. It is best to curtail taking these medications until after your hypnotherapy session. You can check with your physician to be sure it’s safe but generally there are no problems if you curtail taking your medication for a few hours.
